Help Me Give Cookie the Care She Deserves.

Cookie is 17 years old. She was left with my mother, who has Parkinson’s, after the owner moved into a new BTO and did not want her fur in the home.

Now Cookie is suffering from repeated seizures and needs an MRI to find out what is wrong. Despite her condition, her medical care was not pursued by her owner.

Cookie's story

2023 OCT

Cookie left by owner

After leaving Singapore Airlines, I moved back home after the owner moved into her new BTO and left Cookie with my mother, who has Parkinson's, reduced strength and mobility, and is mildly autistic. I became the person walking, feeding, bathing, cleaning and caring for Cookie day to day.

23 Aug 2026, ~5pm

First seizure

Cookie suffered her first seizure. It was the first sign that something was seriously wrong.

24 Aug 2026, ~6pm

Second seizure

Less than 24 hours later, Cookie had a second seizure.

25 Aug 2026

The vet visit

I took Cookie to Beecroft vet emergency myself. Her blood tests came back normal, but the vet said she needed an MRI costing over $4,000 to investigate the seizures. 

25 Aug 2026, ~7pm

Third seizure in three days

That evening Cookie had her third seizure in three consecutive days. Afterwards she was extremely disoriented — tripping, limping and walking into walls.

SPCA & AVS report

I made an urgent animal-welfare report to SPCA and AVS, documenting the three seizures and asking for help getting Cookie appropriate medical attention.

After the Beecroft visit

I offered to raise funds for cookie's medical

I informed my mother of the medical costs so she could tell the owner. The owner became angry and told me she never asked me to bring Cookie to the vet and that I was not Cookie's caregiver — despite me having been the person caring for Cookie day to day. I offered to take Cookie, have ownership transferred to me and raise the money for her MRI and treatment myself. The owner rejected my offer.

Cookie grew worse

I publicly documented Cookie still being disoriented after the seizures, banging into walls and tripping, as well as vomiting and having very little energy.

Neurology consultation quoted

I called regarding a neurology consultation and was quoted $265 for the visit, with further neurological investigation and MRI potentially costing thousands.

"She's perfectly fine"

The owner maintained over text that Cookie was "perfectly fine", despite not having personally seen the condition Cookie was in. I was also told not to interfere with Cookie's care.

A painful goodbye

Cookie was given away to my mother's boyfriend's niece by the owner. I documented what I thought might be my last goodbye with her.

About two days later

Cookie was dumped back here

Cookie was returned to my home because I was told she had been too noisy at the other person's house.

Told to stay away

The owner messaged that Cookie would remain in my flat under her and my mother's care, despite the owner living at her BTO somewhere else, and instructed me not to go near or interfere with Cookie or she will report me.

The turning point

The community responded

I shared what was happening publicly. Many people messaged me saying they were willing to help fund Cookie's medical care. That was when I realised my community could help me give Cookie a chance. But Cookie still legally belonged to the owner, and I had received threats of legal action if I interfered. I did not feel free to make major medical decisions for a dog I didn't legally own.

I documented taking Cookie for basic care, including having her nails trimmed, because this had not been done for months by the owner

Cookie is officially mine ❤️

Completely unexpectedly, the owner transferred Cookie's dog licence to me. Cookie is finally officially mine.

Where we are today

Now I need help

I'm starting social work school soon and supporting myself financially. Now that Cookie is legally under my care, I can finally move forward with her medical needs. I need help from my community to fund her MRI, neurological care, treatment and senior-dog needs. Cookie has been with me since I was 13 (when the owner bought her into our family 1 room flat). She was there for me when I needed her. Now it's my turn to be there for her. ❤️

Cookie's main concern right now.

  • She's having repeated seizures

    Cookie has been suffering from repeated convulsions and seizure episodes.

  • The cause is unknown

    Her blood tests came back normal, so we still don't know what is causing the neurological symptoms.

  • She needs an MRI

    Her vet has recommended an MRI to understand what is happening and decide on the right treatment or care.

  • Her comfort comes first

    Once we have the results, I can make the kindest, most informed decision for her quality of life and dignity.

Cookie's treatment and care decisions will always be made based on veterinary advice and her quality of life.
